EMILIA ROMAGNA - The Romagna Riviera

Cattolica
Inhabitants: 15.507
Surface: 5,96 sqkm
Seaside resort
Cattolica lies in a small bay, at the point where the Romagnese plain with its wide beaches is almost turning into the hills of the Marches, which sink into the sea. A Roman Settlement on the Via Flaminia , built as post- and stay-station, it has been able to keep holding its features of a road knot, by improving its receptions possibilities. Since the beginning of the last century, Cattolica was one of the first Adria sea resorts to show its own touristic-bathing inclination. Among the first vacationers, there was also a certain Luciano Bonaparte, Prince of Canino, and brother of the better known Napoleon, who stayed here with his family in 1823. By the middle of the same century, wealthy vacationers in the town had become a frequent habit.

Today, Cattolica is an internationally famous seaside resort, loved by the tourist of the northern Europe, who are attracted by its beach, sheltered by the flanks of a green hill, by an efficient reception and entertainment structure, and by the local colour of its harbour, which is one of the most important fishing-stations of the whole Adria sea.

Misano
Inhabitants: 9.025
Surface: 22,43 sqkm
Seaside resort
Close, almost adjoining the North of Cattolica, Misano Adriatico can count on about 140 hotels and a thousand of summer residenced, villas and flats, all built around thew 70's and 80's. Here, the guest welcoming atmosphere is special: quiet and relaxing, suitable for families with children and, in general, for those who consider holidays as a moment of calm regeneration both for the body and for the mind. Two are the boasts of this town: an equipped touristic harbour (the Marine) - with its reception centre - Portoverde, which is exclusively reserved to pleasure boats and able to harbour more than one thousand units, and a modern motor-racing track, i.e. the Santamonica, suitable for any class of motorcycle and car races.

Coriano
Inhabitants: 7.715
Surface: 46,81 sqkm
Height: 102 meters above sea level.
Coriano offers the peace and tranquillity of a country town, despite being only a short distance from the busy coast, right at the centre of the triangle formed by the lively beaches of Rimini and Riccione and the soaring towers of San Marino. The countryside around the town is of great beauty, with its rural communities dedicated to the cultivation of wheat and olives, as well as to the production of some of the best wine of the area. The hospitality of the inhabitants is warm-hearted and generous, and they often organise festivals to welcome their visitors.

Gemmano
Inhabitants: 1.024
Surface: 19,2 sqkm
Height: 404 meters above sea level
The beauty and variety of the natural landscape around Gemmano is without a doubt its greatest heritage, and it boasts some of the most fascinating countryside of the whole Rimini area, with features of great interest for botanists, geologists and tourists alike. The Onferno Caves, the Ventena Valley, its ravines, country paths and excellent views make the town a special attraction for visitors who wish to discover the pleasures of a remarkably intact natural environment.
