Aurelian Walls
The Aurelian Walls, which enclosed the seven hills, were 19 kilometers long, had 18 doors and were defended by 381 towers.
They were built between 272 and 279 to protect the city from the menace of the Germans, defeated by the Emperor Aurelius. |
