Rodi Garganico - Peschici - Vieste - Pugnochiuso - Mattinata - Monte Sant'Angelo - Manfredonia - San Giovanni Rotondo - San Marco in Lamis - Sannicandro Garganico - Torre Mileto - Rodi Garganico.
This itinerary starts from Rodi Garganico, founded by the Cretans, ancient lading place of the Greeks, well-known seaside resort and producer of citrus fruits.

From Rodi you descend to the beach of San Menaio. Here, after passing through the Marzini pine woods, the road, rising and with the odd bend, winds trough delightful surroundings, flanked on the left by the sea and on the right by olive groves, citrus trees and oak woods. You will come to Peschici, a fishing port, founded more than a thousand years ago by a Slav commander, marked by low white houses topped with Arab-like cupolas. Once past Peschici you will reach the grotto of San Nicola and the splendid Manacore bay; then, the narrow road winds up and down, briefly enters a thick pine wood and returns to the sea at Torre di Spinale; from here, almost straight and flat, it leads to Vieste, of particular historical importance. An ancient Greek colony, Vieste is today an agricultural and fishing centre, particularly popular in summer for its modern bathing facilities and its splendid sandy beaches.
From Vieste, after an initially straight stretch, the roads starts to wind again and passes in rapid succession the Castello beach at Pizzomunno, the Portonuovo lido and the San Felice bay with its crystal-clear sea and famous Architello, a rock arch rising on the surface of the water (it has a twin in the Tremiti islands). The road continues to the modern resort of Pugnochiuso. Returned to the coastal road, cross the Zagare bay and the Mattinatella plain, to reach Mattinata, with its small harbour and olive groves all around. Past Mattinata, after a few kilometres you come to the turning for Monte Sant'Angelo, one of the best-known towns in the whole region. From Monte Sant'Angelo, skirting the walls of the ancient castle, in just a few kilometres you turn onto the s.s. 89 for Manfredonia where there is a boat service for a tour the Gargano.

The route continues to San Giovanni Rotondo, the town of Padre Pio, reached either via a narrow road that passes through San Salvatore and then on the s.s. 102, or on the long, straight road to the church of the Annunziata and from here to San Giovanni Rotondo, thus called because it has an ancient Christian church with a circular plan. Thanks to the charitable works of Padre Pio this town, enclosed within Frederick's walls, has become a destination for pilgrims from all over the world and boasts a modern hospital, built by the monk just with offerings made by believers.
From San Giovanni Rotondo proceed for san Marco in lamis, a heavily populated farming town, the name of which derives from he stone depressions of the karst incisions seen on the mountains. From here road leads towards Sannicandro Garganico, famous for its lively Carnival. From Sannicandro, it is just a few kilometres to Torre Mileto, an ancient tower that was part of coastal fortifications concluded by Charles V of Spain, the ideal starting point for an excurtion to the lakes of Lesina and Varano.
