Napoli -
Teatro lirico costruito a Napoli nel 1737 su disegno di Giovanni Antonio Medrano accanto al Palazzo Reale, per volere di Carlo III di Borbone. Inaugurato con Achille in Sciro di Domenico Sarro (1679-1744), nel 1816 fu distrutto da un incendio e ricostruito da Antonio Niccolini (1772-1850), che già lo aveva arricchito con la grandiosa facciata. Dotato di 3500 posti, con un'acustica ottima, ha ospitato tra l'altro le prime esecuzioni del Mosè in Egitto di Gioacchino Rossini (1818), della Lucia di Lammermoor di Gaetano Donizetti (1835), di Alzira (1845) e Luisa Miller (1849) di Giuseppe Verdi....
